New refrigerant may improve coefficient of temperature of air-source heat pumps by up to 21%

A group of scientists led by Zhejiang University in China has developed a new zeotropic refrigerant made of CO2 and R1336mzz(E) that enhances the performance of air-source heat pumps (ASHPs). The refrigerant offers improved efficiency, safety, and environmental benefits. Economic analysis reveals cost competitiveness and significant CO2 emission reductions. The study emphasizes the applicability in cold regions like China.
