New study shows India has 207 GW of floating solar potential

A new report under the Indo-German Technical Cooperation on Innovative Solar (IN Solar) reveals that inland bodies of water in India have the potential to host 206.7 GWp of floating solar capacity. The study focused on bodies of water with a usable area over 0.015 sq km, excluding those in protected zones. Madhya Pradesh leads with 40,117 MWp potential, followed by Maharashtra with 32,076 MWp. The project, supervised by the Indian Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and funded by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ), is headed by EY LLP.
