A research group in Japan has developed a new technique using an induction heating system to repair failures of solder interconnections in photovoltaic panels. The method allows for on-site repairs, extending the life of solar cells without disassembly. By applying optimized heating times, the system effectively recovers the performance of damaged panels by decreasing series resistance and improving fill factor values.
