NextEra Energy Resources, a developer and IPP, is proposing to construct a 3GW standalone BESS in Fresno County, California. A final EIR has been prepared to evaluate the Key Energy Storage Project, which involves the construction of a phased facility using either lithium-ion batteries or a mix of lithium-ion and iron-flow battery technology. NEER aims to connect the project to the CAISO grid through PG&E's substation. The company also has a portfolio of battery storage projects in the US and aims for net-zero carbon emissions by 2045.
