Regulators have approved NS Power's plan to build three large-scale battery storage facilities in Nova Scotia, Canada. The battery energy storage system projects will help Nova Scotia reach its 80% renewable energy policy target and coal power phaseout by 2030. NS Power, a privately owned utility regulated by NSUARB, will invest approximately CA$243 million in the 150MW battery storage buildout. The Canadian federal government will contribute CA$115.6 million to the projects. The assets will enable grid integration of more than 1,000MW of wind resources and support the utility's peak load management.
