Researchers from the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development at Utrecht University studied the effect of environmental factors on offshore floating photovoltaic systems (OFPVs). They developed regression models to predict yield advantages for OFPV siting versus land-based systems. The study found that OFPV sites had lower module temperatures and higher average irradiation values compared to land-based ones. The researchers used historical data to calculate the energy yield advantage, concluding that the energy advantage is site-specific.
