'Offshore wind could create 770,000 South Korean jobs'

The construction of offshore wind farms in South Korea could potentially create over 770,000 job opportunities and contribute 87 trillion won into the economy. Offshore wind development is seen as a key driver of local economic growth and could revitalize coastal cities like Incheon, Gunsan, and Mokpo. Despite ambitious targets, only a fraction of the offshore wind capacity has been delivered due to slow permitting processes. GWEC reports call for streamlining permitting processes, passing the Offshore Wind Power Promotion Act, and engaging local communities and the fishing industry for successful implementation.
