The Petrobrazi refinery in Romania, operated by OMV Petrom, is undergoing a major transformation with investments earmarked for sustainable fuels production, particularly sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) and hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO). By 2030, they aim to cut carbon emissions by 15% and supply 250,000 tons of sustainable fuels per year. The company is committed to EUR 11 billion for a lower carbon future. OMV Petrom has acquired a 50% stake in Respiră Verde to secure the raw material for biofuels from used cooking oil. This initiative is in line with their decarbonization efforts.
