Origami Solar develops light steel frames for solar modules

Origami Solar, founded by Eric Hafter and Jack Patton, won the grand prize in the US Department of Energy’s American-Made Solar Prize 2022 competition for its patent-pending steel frame that lowers costs and improves module performance. The company's frames made of recycled steel aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions as compared to aluminum frames. Origami Solar's Gen 2 frames offer superior support to new large-format modules coming to the market and have a projected module lifespan of 30 years.
