ORIX to build 134-MW energy storage plant in Japan

Japanese diversified group ORIX Corporation announced the construction of a 134-MW/548-MWh power grid energy storage plant named Maibara-Koto Energy Storage Plant in Maibara, Shiga Prefecture. The plant, secured through a long-term decarbonisation energy auction, will have 140 containers of lithium-ion storage batteries and a multi-purpose square for public education about the environment. Construction is set to start in November 2024 with power operations commencing in 2027.
