During high wind events, solar trackers like those from Array Technologies can be set to a passive stow mode as opposed to an active stow mode to reduce energy production losses. A study conducted with DNV found that passive stowing results in significantly less energy loss compared to active stowing. Passive stowing allows for better operational efficiency during wind events by not fully stowing the solar array, thus maintaining more consistent energy production.
