A group of researchers led by the Zhejiang University of Technology in China proposed using sulfone-based organic molecules, DPS and DMPS, to enhance perovskite solar cells' performance by improving charge distribution and creating electron-rich systems. Through simulations, they found that DMPS created a stronger bond with the perovskite absorber, leading to improved stability. The study, published in Cell Reports Physical Science, highlighted the role of DPS and DMPS in reducing the positive charge of lead in the perovskite material, resulting in increased electron cloud density and passivation of Pb2+ ions on the film surface.
