Researchers at Hebei University of Technology in China have developed a solar photovoltaic direct-drive refrigeration system aimed at cooling high heat-flux electronic devices. This system features low energy consumption by integrating photovoltaic power with vapor compression refrigeration, using direct-cooling techniques and a micro-evaporator for effective heat exchange. A significant reduction of exergy destruction and substantial economic savings compared to conventional systems were observed. The performance of the system varies with changes in solar radiation and compressor speed, achieving a coefficient of performance of 8.5 under specific conditions.
