Cumberland Council in England, UK, has granted planning permission for a 200MW/400MWh BESS project from developers Recurrent Energy and Windel Energy. The project titled Harker, located at Todhills and West Linton on the outskirts of Carlisle, will connect to the Harker National Grid Substation via an underground 400kV cable. Recurrent Energy, the project development arm of Canadian Solar, has secured a revolving credit facility of £1.1 billion for its global pipeline. Their BESS arm, e-Storage, is active in the UK market with deals signed with Engie. Additionally, SSE Renewables and NatPower are also working on BESS projects in the UK.
