Potentia secures contract for 390 MW of BESS in Ontario

Potentia Renewables Inc, a subsidiary of Canadian asset manager Power Sustainable Capital, has won a contract to deliver battery storage capacity to the Ontario grid from a 390-MW/1,560 MWh facility. The project, named Skyview 2, is set to be the largest battery energy storage system in Canada and will enhance grid reliability by balancing supply and demand. The lithium-ion facility will be constructed in Edwardsburgh Cardinal, Ontario, covering approximately 30 acres of rural land. The total investment required for the project is estimated at CAD 750 million, with property taxes of about CAD 30 million expected to be paid over 30 years.
