Power utility Elektroprivreda BiH posts all-time high annual loss for 2023

Elektroprivreda Bosne i Hercegovine (EPBiH) suffers a loss of EUR 169 million due to lack of coal, bad hydrology, and obsolete facilities. The Zenica coal mine faces shutdown with almost 600 employees. The state-owned company invested heavily in mines, but they accumulated losses. General Manager Sanel Buljubašić is optimistic about recovery despite challenges. Investments planned in revitalization of coal plants and desulfurization, with emphasis on renewable energy sources.
