Pre-fabricated photovoltaic pavement for urban environments

Researchers at Hong Kong Polytechnic University designed photovoltaic pavement (PVP) with monocrystalline solar modules for urban environments. The PVP features tempered glass sheets, patterns on the front surface for anti-skid properties, and epoxy resin filling for structural support and heat reduction. The study conducted numerical and experimental analyses on PVP located in Hong Kong, showcasing electrical output potential, efficiency, and heat island effect alleviation. The research group also simulated PVPs in Shanghai and other Chinese cities.
