President Biden vetoes legislation to repeal moratorium on solar tariffs

In June 2022, President Biden exempted solar modules from Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam to boost domestic manufacturing. A year later, the U.S. Senate voted to repeal the tariffs which President Biden vetoed. The White House emphasized reducing reliance on China for solar products and increasing domestic module capacity eight-fold. The veto aims to support U.S. businesses and solar industry workers and prevent job losses. Organizations like SEIA and ACORE supported the veto to protect clean energy progress and jobs in the solar industry.
