PV Cycle recommends excluding PV panels from WEEE directive

PV Cycle, the European solar recycling association, argues that solar panels should be excluded from the EU's Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment directive due to their unique characteristics. They recommend implementing Extended Producer Responsibility legislation for renewable energy products. PV Cycle invites the European Commission to assess the impacts of EPR legislation. The organization proposes tailored EPR frameworks for investment products like solar panels that differ from short-lived consumer products. Additionally, PV Cycle offers recommendations to modify the WEEE directive if solar panels remain within its scope.
