‘Renewables plans must match COP28 goal’

The International Energy Agency’s report on COP28 reveals that very few countries have set 2030 targets for installed renewable capacity in their NDCs, with commitments falling short of the global tripling goal set in Dubai. However, new analysis suggests that countries' domestic ambitions exceed official commitments, providing ample scope to align NDCs with the tripling goal. Accelerated implementation and higher ambitions are needed to reach the target of tripling renewable power capacity to limit global warming to 1.5°C.
