Renewables provide 99% of new US generating capacity in April and YTD

The mix of renewable energy sources, including solar, wind, biomass, geothermal, and hydropower, provided nearly all new US generating capacity in April and year-to-date. Solar was the largest new source of generating capacity for the eighth consecutive month. Solar and wind accounted for most of the new capacity added, with natural gas providing only a small portion. Solar has significantly increased its share of total available utility-scale generating capacity. The combined capacities of solar and wind now constitute more than one-fifth of the nation's total generating capacity.
