Romania: European Energy receives 500 MW grid connection approvals

Romania is a promising solar market with grid connections being a bottleneck. European Energy has received grid connection approvals for around 500 MW of solar and wind energy projects in Romania, exceeding 1.5 GW in total. The company is working on approvals for the remaining projects. Ioannis Kalapodas, Head of European Energy's Romania office, considers Romania a promising market due to upcoming auctions unlocking more wind and solar projects. Romania has 11.7 GW of renewable energy capacity built or approved. European Energy aims to achieve a leading position in the market with grid connection approvals. Hybrid projects involving solar, wind, and battery storage technologies could drive renewable energy development in Romania.
