Solar manufacturer SEG Solar is building a 5GW vertically integrated PV manufacturing plant in Indonesia, with annual production capacities of 5GW for solar cells and 3GW for modules. The plant in Batang Regency will total 5GW production capacity across wafers to modules. The company plans to comply with supply chain standards and aims to provide clean and traceable green products in the US, Europe, and Indonesia markets. Jun Zhuge, founder and COO of SEG Solar, emphasized the importance of an integrated industry chain layout. SEG Solar will supply its global module assembly plants in China, Thailand, and the US from its Indonesian facility. Additionally, in Texas, the company is constructing a 2GW TOPCon module assembly plant. SEG Solar aims to achieve a 5.5GW annual module capacity across its plants by the end of the year. Gstar, a Singapore-based PV manufacturer, is building a 3GW silicon wafer plant in Indonesia expected to start production by the end of 2024.
