German developer Skyborn Renewables has initiated environmental studies for the Pooki project in Finnish territorial waters. The project aims to install up to 2,600 MW of offshore wind power capacity. Skyborn plans to have around 85 to 185 wind turbines with a maximum height of 390 meters in the Bothnian Bay cities of Oulu, Ii, Simo, and Kemi. The company has signed an agreement with Finnish state-owned enterprise Metsahallitus for exclusive rights to develop the wind farm, with zoning initiatives for the master plan and EIA procedures expected in 2024. The project is anticipated to be completed by the early 2030s.
