Solar PV was world’s fastest-growing source of electricity generation in 2023

Solar PV's generation growth in 2024 is expected to be faster than in 2023. Solar generation grew by 23% in 2023, with solar PV accounting for 5.5% of the global electricity mix. Solar, along with wind, met 82% of last year's global electricity demand growth. Initiatives are aiming to triple renewables capacity by 2030. Ember forecasts clean energy generation to surpass demand growth in 2024, leading to a potential decrease in global fossil fuel generation.
