Solar to contribute over 60% of new U.S. electricity generation in 2024

The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) released a report forecasting a 3% increase in total electricity generation capacity in the United States in 2024, with renewable sources, especially solar, driving most of the growth. Solar energy is expected to exceed hydroelectricity contribution in 2025. Despite growth in renewables, natural gas remains a significant source of electricity generation.
