Solar, wind completely replace diesel at South Pole Station

Scientists from Argonne National Laboratory and National Renewable Energy Laboratory explored the feasibility of using renewable energy to power Antarctica's Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station. By integrating solar panels, wind turbines, and lithium-ion energy storage, they proposed a hybrid system that could significantly reduce diesel consumption and carbon footprint.
