SP Energy Networks is investing £20m in the local network in St Andrews, Scotland, to increase capacity to accommodate more clean energy. A primary substation will be installed in Guardbridge, connected via two new underground cable circuits to the grid in Cupar. The project aims to boost network capacity to support the increasing demand for electricity in the St Andrew’s area, driven by the adoption of low-carbon technologies like EVs and heat pumps. The investment will enable new EV charging points, heat pumps, and grid connections for renewable energy projects.
