Spontaneous glass breakage on solar panels on the rise

Glass breakage in solar panels has become a notable issue as reported by NREL and RETC. Thinner solar glass along with larger modules and closer mounting rails are leading to increased breakage. Teresa Barnes from NREL highlighted the impact of glass thinning and suggested solutions like thicker frames and wider mounting positions. The industry is evolving towards climate-specific module designs for better resilience against extreme weather conditions like hailstorms.
