SSE Renewables plans 37 GWh pumped storage project in Scotland

ESS Renewables and Gilkes Energy plan to develop a 1.8 GW/ 37GWh Fearna Pumped Hydro Energy Storage project in Loch Fearna, Scotland. The project involves tunnels and a new power station connecting existing reservoirs at Loch Quoich and Loch Fearna. The project aims to begin commercial operations in the mid-2030s. In parallel, pv magazine discusses the role of small-scale PV arrays in Brazil and China, the state of national grids in Europe, and the importance of artificial intelligence in grid-related revenue generation from battery sites.
