Researchers at Southeast University in China investigated coupling compressed carbon dioxide with a combined heating and power unit for energy storage. They proposed a closed-cycle system utilizing heat from a network backwater and operating through compression and expansion stages using water and CO2. The system achieved high exergy efficiency and energy storage density. The study focused on optimizing system performance for renewable energy consumption.
