Texas Senate approves tight permit restrictions on solar, wind

The state of Texas is facing significant permitting restrictions on solar and wind energy projects with the passing of SB 624. Despite Texas being a leader in wind energy, the new law could hinder further growth in the renewable energy sector. The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) expects Texas to add 36 GW of solar over the next five years, making it a prime example of harnessing solar energy. However, SB 624 imposes new fees and requirements on renewable energy developers, raising concerns about private property rights and increased energy costs for Texans.
