Researchers from Japan's Oita University studied the impact of seasonal and meteorological factors on the efficiency of electricity generation from ground-mounted solar plants using meta-frontier data envelopment analysis (DEA). They analyzed data from six utility-scale PV power plants across various prefectures in Japan from 2016 to 2020, focusing on parameters like solar irradiation and temperature. The study found significant inefficiencies due to seasonal changes and technical factors, and discussed methods to improve power generation efficiency by optimizing the DC/AC ratio and choosing sites based on meteorological and geographical data.
