Tokyo sets up purchasing groups for solar panels, batteries

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government plans to establish a purchasing group for citizens and businesses to collectively acquire solar panels and batteries. The program aims to reduce installation costs and will run from April 28 to July 31. It can be combined with existing incentives. New mandatory PV requirements for buildings and homes from 2025 were approved in December, including obligations for businesses to install solar arrays on rooftops.
