TransAlta’s 200-MW Horizon Hill wind farm starts operation in Oklahoma

Canadian power producer TransAlta Corp has achieved commercial operation of its 200-MW Horizon Hill wind project in Oklahoma. The entire output has been contracted by Meta Platforms Inc. The plant equipped with 34 Vestas turbines marks the company's 30th wind facility. Meta signed a long-term contract in April 2022 to buy renewable electricity and environmental attributes. TransAlta sealed a 10-year transfer agreement in 2024 to sell about 80% of the expected PTCs. Over 60% of TransAlta's fleet is now contracted on a megawatt basis.
