A research group at the University of Toledo in the United States has designed a four-terminal (4T) tandem solar cell with a top perovskite absorber and a bottom cell using CdTe absorber technology. The efficient perovskite-CdTe tandem configuration reached a power conversion efficiency of 25.1%. The transparent back contact technology used IZO films prepared through RF magnetron sputtering, aimed at enhancing performance. The study outlines a roadmap to increase device efficiency to 30%.
