Researchers from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology in India proposed a new CIGS solar cell structure using WS2 as the BSF layer, achieving 25.70% efficiency at specific thicknesses. WS2 functions as an electron transport or buffer layer and is utilized in nanoelectronics and energy storage devices. The research aims to reduce rare earth material consumption in CIGS cells.
