Interest in long-duration energy storage (LDES) is rising rapidly as demand for clean reliable capacity grows. The US Department of Energy’s Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations (OCED) plans to fund pilot-scale energy storage demonstration projects with a focus on non-lithium technologies and 10+ hour discharge systems. Funding of up to $100 million will be allocated to 3-15 projects. The Long-Duration Energy Storage Pilot Program aims to support a diverse set of non-lithium LDES technologies.
