US DOE to award US$20 million in funding for solar cells and cadmium telluride research

The US Department of Energy (DOE) has introduced a funding opportunity via the 2024 Photovoltaics Research and Development initiative, allocating up to US$20 million. This funding, managed by the DOE's Solar Energy Technologies Office (SETO), aims to support ventures focusing on PV cell efficiency, particularly in cadmium telluride (CdTe) research and other PV technologies. This initiative is expected to bolster advances in PV cells, reduce manufacturing emissions, and enhance overall efficiency in new and emerging markets.
