‘US, EU losing ground in renewables’

Jose Manuel Entrecanales, CEO of Acciona, highlighted during the IRENA's 14th Assembly that the US and EU are lagging in renewable energy installation, accounting for only 20% of new global capacity in 2023 despite representing over 50% of the world's GDP. He compared this with China's 70% of new capacity, underscoring the need to improve the risk-reward equation to attract capital and bolster development in renewable energy. The discussion also included insights from EDF's CEO Luc Remont, Julia Souder, Dany Qian, and Habiba Ali, each discussing regional challenges in renewable energy sectors.
