US Export-Import Bank provides $900 million for 500 MW of solar in Angola

EXIM has agreed to provide $900 million in funding to Angola's Ministry of Energy and Water for the deployment of a 500 MW of utility-scale PV capacity. The projects were announced during the G7 summit of 2022 by Angola government and developers AfricaGlobal Schaffer and Sun Africa. According to IRENA, Angola had an installed PV capacity of 297 MW as of 2022 year-end. Angola aims to achieve a 65% energy access rate and a total installed capacity of approximately 10 GW by 2025.
