The US House of Representatives has lifted the two-year pause on solar import tariffs for goods from Southeast Asian countries, responsible for 80% of the US solar panel supply chain. Tariffs will be assessed on goods violating anti-dumping and countervailing duty laws. The tariff exemption applies until June 6, 2024, or for modules installed before December 2024. Solar industry trade groups oppose the lifting of the moratorium, citing potential job losses and insufficient domestic production capacity.
