Michigan's governor Gretchen Whitmer signed the state's climate legislation, including a 2,500MW energy storage target into law. Utility DTE Energy launched a request for proposals seeking 120MW of energy storage projects in Michigan. DTE Energy aims to reach 2,950MW of energy storage by 2042, aligned with its plan for low-carbon sources and zero carbon emissions by 2050. The company is transitioning from coal to renewable energy sources and plans to increase storage to 6% by 2029 and maintain that through 2042. Michigan implemented an energy storage policy targeting 2,500MW by 2030 and setting a 100% clean energy standard by 2040.
