Utility EWS AG and developer MW Storage have completed the expansion of a battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Switzerland from 20MW to 28MW, making it the country’s largest. The project is deployed to help the transmission system operator Swissgrid keep the grid stable by providing frequency response services. The BESS project is being monetized in the Swiss electricity market by CKW and Alpiq. MW Storage, an active developer in BESS projects, is also involved in the German market with a large-scale project.
