Volkswagen’s Elli plans large-scale BESS projects, first in Germany

Elli, the EV infrastructure and utility arm of Volkswagen Group, is entering the large-scale BESS market in Germany and Europe. The company aims to develop and operate 350MW/700MWh energy storage projects using BESS technology. Thomas Schmall, a board member of Volkswagen Group, highlights the need for storage solutions in Germany and Europe. Elli plans to become a holistic energy provider in Europe under the leadership of CEO Giovanni Palazzo. The company manages EV charging infrastructure and retail energy products in Europe.
