Voltalia turns sod on 126MW Uzbek solar

Voltalia has begun construction of a 126MW solar and battery project in Uzbekistan named Sarimay. The project includes the addition of a 50MW battery at Sarimay and a new 500MW battery in the country. The power purchase contract was won in 2022 through a tender managed by the IFC. Financing was done in collaboration with EBRD and the Japan International Cooperation Agency. Voltalia is also evaluating the potential of a future 100MW wind farm. They have signed partnership agreements and a memorandum of understanding to support the growth of renewable energy production in Uzbekistan.
