World’s largest solar plant goes online in China

China Green Electricity Investment of Tianjin, a subsidiary of China Green Development Group (CGDG), has completed the construction of the world's largest solar plant, the 3.5 GW Midong PV farm in Urumqi, Xinjiang, China. The project involved significant infrastructure development including 5.26 million 650 W monocrystalline bifacial double-glass PV panels, booster stations, supporting piles, and transmission lines. CGDG, under the Chinese government, focuses on renewable energy investments aiming for more than 20 GW of installations by 2024.
