World’s largest solar plant goes online in China

China Green Electricity Investment of Tianjin, a subsidiary of China Green Development Group (CGDG), has completed the 3.5 GW Midong PV farm in Xinjiang, China. The farm is currently the world's largest solar plant. The construction was carried out by China Construction Eighth Engineering Division Corp and Power Construction Corporation of China. The project required an investment of CNY 15.45 billion and features 5.26 million 650 W monocrystalline bifacial double-glass PV panels. CGDG, established in December 2020, focuses on renewable energy projects with a target of more than 20 GW by 2024.
