World’s largest solar plant goes online in China

China Green Electricity Investment of Tianjin, a subsidiary of China Green Development Group, has activated the world's largest solar plant, the 3.5 GW Midong PV farm in Urumqi, Xinjiang region. Huanghe Hydropower Development previously operated the world's largest solar park with a 2.2 GW capacity. The construction of the Mindong project, carried out by China Construction Eighth Engineering and Power Construction Corporation of China, required CNY 15.45 billion investment. CGDG, managed by SASAC, focuses on renewable energy projects with a target of achieving over 20 GW installations by 2024.
