Wärtsilä joins 5MWh club with latest BESS product

Wärtsilä has launched Quantum3, a 5MWh battery energy storage system in a 20-foot container form factor. The system integrates string-based power conversion systems for enhanced availability, efficiency, and reliability. The announcement did not disclose the energy storage capacity but confirmed it is 5MWh. The company focuses on balancing energy density and weight to address road transportation challenges. Andy Tang, VP of energy storage & optimisation, emphasized the safety and reliability of the system worldwide. Wärtsilä's previous product, Quantum2, had a capacity of 4MWh. Their BESS products can be used alongside the GEMS Digital Energy Platform for energy management.
